Located on a twenty acre site west of Deridder, Louisiana, Beauregard Real Property plans to construct a new 142 bed skilled nursing facility to replace the existing Westwood Manor. The owner requested that Ashe Broussard Weinzettle Architects design the new home around a centralized nursing model of healthcare services delivery. All nursing service areas are located at the core of the building and provide care to four residential wings with a variety bedroom size and arrangements.
Special features include both private and semi-private bedroom accommodations, chapel, physical therapy gym, short-term physical therapy residential wing, spacious living and social activity areas, centralized dining room, coffee bar, specialized dementia residential suite, and outdoor recreational areas. In addition, the building design, as well as, furnishings and appointments provide a hospitality atmosphere in contrast to the institutional model common to the earlier generation of skilled nursing facilities.
