A three acre, wooded site along Highway 167 in southern Grant Parish was selected to open a new banking center as Colfax Banking Company expanded its banking services in Central Louisiana. The rural location provided an opportunity to make strong connections with the natural surroundings and establish a strong sense of identity from the highway, reinforced by the use of vernacular elements and materials.
Primary design considerations included meeting the functional requirements of modern banking services in efficiency and security, while providing an atmosphere that was comfortable and inviting for staff and customers alike. Through the use of natural light, warm materials, and openness the banking center evokes a statement of harmony with its surroundings by framing exterior views and inviting them into the building’s interior.
