Central School, located in the community of Grand Cane in northwest Louisiana, provides a Christian focused education for children from pre-kindergarten through high school. Seeking to re-energize the school and broaden its academic and extra-curricular programs the Board asked ABW to evaluate its current facilities and develop an overall master plan, including priorities and budget.

A major focus of the master plan was to establish a stronger connection between the existing buildings and the beautiful groupings of mature oak trees that exist around the campus. This was accomplished by placing a number of plazas and casual gathering places beneath the trees and connecting all buildings with generous covered walkways. The 1920’s era high school, listed on the Historic Register, will be carefully restored while providing new HVAC and electrical systems, code compliance, restrooms, and an elevator. The master plan also proposes a number of new facilities, each with views out into the campus, including a performing arts center, a computer lab, a centrally located library, an expanded cafeteria, an expanded gymnasium, and an indoor multi-purpose space connecting the middle school and the elementary school.
